HUNTING TALE
Nyala, the ‘shifty one’
Nyala is one of four spiral horned antelope, with kudu, eland and bushbuck the other three. The nyala ewe is slightly built and redder than the male, with a look that is more deer than antelope – narrow white stripes from spine to belly. Nyala mark the intersection between large and small antelope.

COME HUNTING
The “Shifty one” …
Our best destination for Nyala is Zululand on the east coast of South Africa, followed by Bambisana Limpopo. We also hunt Nyala in the Zambezi delta of Mozambique. Nyala have excellent senses and flee at the first sign of danger. They lead secretive lives especially the big old bulls. They are great fun to hunt and are one of the most desired game animals in Southern Africa. A variety of Caliber’s are suitable for Nyala from 270 and up. They can become ferocious when wounded and care must be taken when following up because they always head for the thickest cover where they hold up until disturbed.

Distribution
Nyala are found in Zululand, across the lowveld up through Swaziland and Limpopo, and throughout southern and central Mozambique, to parts of Zimbabwe and Malawi. Dependent on water and regular supply of greenery, Nyala inhabit thick woodlands surrounded by good grazing and bodies of fresh water.
