Tracking cape buffalo through mopani thickets is exhilarating, dangerous and exciting! Hunters must expect to work for their buffalo here, which is in keeping with our goal of providing you with an authentic experience, a proper rewarding hunt, and lifelong memories.

Kudu are found everywhere in the reserve from the rugged mountains in the south to the flat country in the north where they take cover in thickets. Kudus are the most sought-after species on the dark continent for good reason and we are fortunate to have phenomenal kudu hunting for our clients right here on Bambisana.

Travel to Bambisana Limpopo

From Johannesburg there are three options, a 1-hour charter flight directly into the reserve followed by a 20-minute drive to your lodge or a commercial flight to Polokwane Airport followed by a 2-hour drive. Alternatively, a driver can collect you from Johannesburg and drive you 5 hours to Bambisana. Please note that this is considered a malaria area albeit low risk in our unqualified opinion, consult your GP about obtaining prophylactics.

We offer two Lodge options (which are priced differently) for our clients to choose from.
Clara Lodge is fabulous and boasts all the comforts and amenities one expects in a tastefully appointed hunting lodge in Africa. Our guests will enjoy exclusivity of the lodge unless otherwise agreed to.

Pienaar Lodge offers a supreme level of luxury and pure indulgence in terms of comfort and amenities which are extraordinary for a “hunting lodge” in the wilds of Africa! Our guests will enjoy exclusivity of the lodge unless otherwise agreed to.

Both lodges have their own appeal and ambiance therefore it’s a question of what your preference is and what you are prepared to spend.

Clara Lodge information

Clara Lodge is situated atop a prominent sandstone rocky out crop in a distant corner of the reserve! As you enter the lodge living and dining area and step onto the beautifully furnished deck you are greeted by a truly breathtaking view over the African landscape for as far as the eye can see! A waterhole below the lodge attracts various species of game including Giraffe, Tsessebe, Hartebeest Buffalo, Kudu, Nyala, Hyena, Rhino, Elephant and sometimes Leopard.

At Clara Lodge elegant open plan living is the order of the day which allows our guests to take in the amazing view whether they are dining, relaxing on comfortable couches, taking a dip in the pool or enjoying a cocktail at the bar. The campfire is set off to one side just a few paces from the main living area. For bad weather days which are rare, there is an indoor dining area and lounge.

Our clients can expect fabulous hearty meals, including game meat and other delicious South African cuisine. The lodge staff, led by either Nadia or Brian go out of their way to make your stay unforgettable by providing friendly, exceptional service from every point of view.

The sunsets from Clara Lodge are unforgettable!

Clara Lodge accommodates 12 guests sharing in six airconditioned thatched chalets which all have elevated views over the bushveld. We can accommodate more guests by special request.

Each chalet is beautifully furnished and comprises a small lounge complete with couches, bar fridge and coffee station. The bedroom is furnished with either 2 single beds or a queen bed with high quality linen. The bedroom leads into a complete bathroom with shower (no bathtub) and each chalet has a covered porch enabling our guests to enjoy the amazing views even when they are in their rooms relaxing. Laundry is done daily.

The lodge has unlimited Wi-Fi however we do encourage guests to limit their time on devices because a safari should be a detox from the fast paced outside world! Mobile phone service is intermittent at the lodge and around the concession.

Clara Lodge is a firm favourite with CVS PHs. This region is considered a malaria area.

Pienaar Lodge information

This exquisite lodge is simply out this world! Situated under a canopy of shade trees, surrounded by lush gardens Pienaar Lodge is an oasis within a rugged wilderness. From the minute you begin the short walk to the lodge living area from the covered parking you will know that you have arrived somewhere special.

The open plan thatched entertainment area which is airconditioned features a stunning lounge which is magnificently decorated, a beautifully appointed bar, an elegant indoor dining area and a restroom for our guests’ convenience. As you step out and onto the shaded wooden terrace you will take in the rim flow pool, the cosy campfire surrounded by comfortable seating and the outside dining area where most of your meals are enjoyed.

A short stroll down paved pathways takes you to your luxurious suites. Five thatched villas accommodate 10 guests sharing. We can accommodate 12 guests on request. Each air-conditioned villa is spectacularly decorated and furnished with your comfort in mind. Stack back glass doors open onto your own private deck, and one villa has a private plunge pool.

The enormous, larger than king size 4 poster bed with plush linen looks out onto the gardens beyond the private deck but still maintains total privacy. Climate control is managed via an iPad in each room, which also enables you to play background music of your choice. The stunningly appointed bathrooms are at another level further enhancing the indulgence of this lodge with bathtub (special salts and treats provided), massive indoor and outdoor shower along with his and her basins. Stack back glass doors open completely to the private outdoor shower. Each suite is complete with coffee station, safe, mini-bar fridge, television, private patio and much more.

THE SPA: The immaculate Spa with professional therapists offers various treatments ranging from full body massages, to skin care, and many more relaxing and fulfilling therapies! The spa boasts state of the art facilities complete with a sauna, steam room, several privately positioned pools one of which is heated, a gym with all the equipment one desires and to top it all, there are two floodlit paddle courts for friends and families to enjoy playing the fastest growing sport in the world, if they’re up to it after a full days hunting.

Our Spa experience infuses Western wellness with a unique African flavour which evokes a sense of place and culture, allowing one to explore wellbeing beyond the physical; to feel grounded and balanced by an African journey into new fragrances and soul-spaces!

Two Chefs, and a pastry Chef will ensure that every meal is deliciously prepared. Hearty meals will include game and other meat dishes, salads, fresh vegetables, and nourishing sides followed by deserts. Breakfast is served before heading out for the morning hunt and this will include a full English breakfast complimented by fruit salad, porridge or cereals.

On most days you will return to the lodge for lunch which is served on the covered terrace alongside the rim flow pool. In the evenings having returned from the afternoon hunt enjoy the glowing campfire with cocktails and snacks before dining again on the terrace just meters from the pool and campfire. Dinners include starters, delicious meat dishes, vegetables, a variety of sides and salads topped off with dessert. Share your stories and adventures while sipping a nightcap around the crackling fire before retiring to your suite for a peaceful and refreshing rest.
