Led by Hans “Scruff” Vermaak, the dynamic CVS office team includes Sarah (Hans’s wife), Delvin, Clive and Eileen whose roles cover administration, planning, logistics, marketing, advertising, sales, accounts, communication & much more.

Our team of PH’s, along with Hans, includes Clive Curtis, Darren Baker, Hermann Meyeridricks, Darren Rode & Patches Madonsela. Our Ph’s add so much value to your safari because they are entertaining, experienced, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate about wildlife and wild places! Our PHs are some of the most experienced and respected in the country and their mission is to ensure that your safari is successful, fun and memorable! Over the years CVS PH’s have won several esteemed awards in the professional hunting industry.

Our trackers, three of whom are 2nd generation in the company are led by Patches who has been employed by CVS for 37 years, making him by all accounts the most experienced tracker in the country! These gentlemen are born and raised in the bush which has honed their skills to extraordinary levels placing them in a league of their own! Our senior trackers are Patches (also a PH), Robbie, Muzi, Jack, Mike and Eliot. Tracking and skinning is an art which has been perfected by these men. They are committed to ensuring that you have a successful safari.

• Coenraad Vermaak was the first officially licensed Professional Hunter in South Africa.
• Coenraad guided his first safari in 1968.
• Coenraad is a founder member of the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa and served as its Vice President for 15 years.
• Coenraad formed one of the first ever conservancies in South Africa.
• Coenraad was one of the first ranchers to introduce wild rhino onto his property.
• Hans Vermaak served on the board of PHASA for 14 years, 2 of which he served as the Association’s President in 2012 & 2013!
• Coenraad & Hans Vermaak have both served as Vice Presidents of the International Professional Hunters Association (IPHA) at different times.
• Coenraad was the first ever recipient of the PHASA “Uncle Stevie” Trophy of the Year Award in 1986.
• Coenraad & Hans Vermaak, and Clive Curtis are founding members of the Custodians of Professional Hunting & Conservation South Africa (CPHC-SA)
• CVS is the longest established hunting safari company in South Africa and boasts an impeccable international reputation since 1970.
• CVS has exhibited at the Dallas Safari Club show since its inception, and we are the longest standing exhibitor at the annual DSC convention.
• In 1988 Coenraad received the distinction of being the first Dallas Safari Club Outfitter of the Year.
• Hans was the “Student of the year” in 1994 at the Goss Professional Hunting Academy.
• Mpahleni Madonsela, better known as Patches, became one of South Africa’s first active black Professional Hunters.
• Coenraad has been an Honorary Officer of the Natal Parks Board and Ezemvelo Wildlife since 1974.
• PH Darren Baker was awarded the Trophy of the Year in 2008 for an enormous leopard he guided.
• Clive Curtis (CVS Senior PH) was awarded the Basie Maartens Professional Hunter of the Year Award in 2014.
• In 2014 Robert Mdlolo, Hans’s tracker since 1996, won the Tracker of the Year award. He was the first recipient of this award!
• Hans Vermaak was awarded the Trophy of the Year Award in 2014.
• PH Clive Curtis was awarded the Trophy of the Year Award in 2017.
• Hans Vermaak was awarded the Basie Maarten’s Professional Hunter of the Year Award in 2019.
• In 2025 Coenraad Vermaak Safaris celebrates 55 years as South Africa’s premier outfitter.
• PH Clive Curtis was presented with the Essence of Safari Award in 2021.
• Herman Meyeridricks is a past President of PHASA and founder member of Custodians of Professional Hunting and Conservation South Africa.
• Hans Vermaak and Herman Meyeridricks are both recipients of the Coenraad Vermaak Award for dedication to promoting and enhancing the hunting industry.
• From 1997-2010 CVS held the exclusive hunting rights to 6 National Park areas in South Africa – a time in the history of hunting that will never be repeated in South Africa.
• CVS is well known for the quality of their premiere hunting areas which are unique and exclusive.
• Since 2012 we have held the sole and exclusive hunting rights to South Africa’s largest continuous hunting area, the Kalahari Concession. This magnificent destination spans 240 000 acres and is home to all of the BIG 5, as well as Cheetah, African Wild Dogs and a large variety of plains game species and boasts the best buffalo & wild lion hunting in the country.
• In 2023 CVS acquired Bambisana Limpopo as an exclusive destination for CVS clients. Spanning over 40 000 acres with a variety of habitats and topography this area offers over 33 huntable species from Buffalo to grysbok and to top it off, the accommodations, service and cuisine are out of the ordinary.
