In addition to our core hunting destinations, we offer hunting throughout South Africa to cater to our clients’ requirements. South Africa is a world in one country with an incredible diversity of topography, vegetation and thus habitats. For this reason, South Africa boasts the greatest variety of wildlife on the planet. Over the years starting with Coenraad in the late 60’s we have built an amazing network of folks that we work with from east to west and north to south across the country. This enables us to set up quality safaris anywhere in South Africa, based on what our clients would like to do!
ABOUT THE AREA
KwaZulu-Natal Midlands
We offer affordable & excellent free-range hunting in the foothills of the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains. Hunters are based in a comfortable “country style” guest house less than a mile from Scruff (Hans) and Sarah’s home and the company HQ. Hunters can expect superb meals prepared by Ketiwe and Sarah in typical CVS safari fashion.
Most days a hearty packed lunch is enjoyed in the field whilst breakfast and dinners are served at the guest house. The surrounding area is packed with various attractions for non-hunters. Folks enjoy taking in the stunning scenery, sightseeing, and browsing the quaint country stalls and shops. There are several day spas which provide their own unique experiences. There is always time to enjoy the warm and welcoming midlands hospitality at the many restaurants and coffee shops, which are located in beautiful settings.
The Midlands is an excellent region to hunt for free range Eland, Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Common Reedbuck, Grey duiker, Bushpig, Caracal, Vaal Rhebok, Mountain reedbuck and an array of other species. Herds of eland vary from small groups of bulls to vast breeding herds sometimes exceeding 300 animals. The eland herds travel from faraway protected areas in the remote Drakensberg Mountains to the lower lying farmlands in search of greener pastures, especially in the winter months. In terms of hunting eland in South Africa this is as real and authentic as it gets, and there is certainly something romantic about hunting eland here because these giant animals’ range enormous distances through treacherous terrain during their lifetimes. The hunt is challenging and most rewarding when you succeed.
In addition to the eland hunting, our primary midlands area has some of the best Cape Bushbuck hunting anywhere and the success rate on good rams is very high. The Midlands is known for its beautiful landscape comprising rolling hills, natural forests, crystal clear streams and dramatic changes in altitude. For those seeking adventure we can set up a fly camp in a pristine setting in the wilderness instead of staying at the comfortable lodge near Scruff and Sarah’s home!
The Midlands is an excellent safari on its own or it can be added to the front or the end of a safari taking place elsewhere in South Africa. A short 45-minute domestic flight from Johannesburg will get you to our local airport where we will meet you. There is no malaria in the Midlands. ABOUT THE AREA
Eastern Cape
This is a popular province to hunt because of the diverse habitat which varies from snow covered mountains to temperate coastal forests along the southern east coast. This diversity in vegetation and topography has resulted in this region hosting a plethora of wildlife species ranging from pygmy antelope such as Blue Duiker in the coastal forests to the ever-alert Vaal Rhebok which is found at high altitudes. Hunting with hounds for caracal and bushpigs is super popular and will get your heart racing.
This province is also home to Bontebok, Vaal Rhebok, Blue Duiker, Caracal (lynx) Mountain Reedbuck, Cape Kudu, Bushbuck, Cape Grysbok, Oribi, Common Lechwe, Springbok (common, black and white) and many more species. A typical safari will involve some travelling by road to different camps and hunting areas to hunt species in their natural habitats. This makes for a fun filled safari which requires a variety of hunting methods & styles, varied shooting distances and vastly different scenery. We have excellent partners in the Eastern Cape, most of whom have had long-standing relationships with CVS. Safaris here will require clients to fly into Port Elizabeth or East London from Johannesburg. There is no malaria in this part of SA.
ABOUT THE AREA
Northern Cape
Situated in central South Africa this is the least populated province in the country. The landscape and vast expanses resemble the scenery around Alpine Texas.
We work with several landowners here and offer excellent hunting for a variety of species from Barbary Sheep to Sable, Roan, Buffalo, Gemsbok, Tsessebe, Lechwe, various Springbok species, Kudu, Eland, Warthog, White Rhino and many more. Accommodation, meals and service are excellent. Old ranch houses have been renovated and converted into luxurious lodges with all amenities and much more.
Hunters are required to take a domestic flight from Johanneburg to Kimberley (or a charter flight) to get to the hunting grounds. From here driving distances vary depending on which area you will be hunting.
There is no malaria in the Northern Cape Province.
