The Karoo is best defined by its vegetation, which is marked by scattered succulents and low scrub bushes. The area is almost completely devoid of surface water, and its name is derived from the Khoisan word meaning “land of thirst.” Its sub regions include the intermontane vales of Little Karoo and Great Karoo in the lesser-elevated areas of Western Cape and Eastern Cape and the main Karoo (or Upper Karoo) spanning the vast highland plateau of the Northern Cape province in an area known as the Great Escarpment. Altogether the Karoo occupies about 153,000 square miles (395,000 square km), about one-third of South Africa’s total expanse.

The Northern Cape concession is home to a huge variety of plains game, as well as Buffalo & White rhino. The areas we hunt have incredible Sable and Roan populations. From Eland to Steenbok, the Northern Cape offers hunters a wide variety of accommodation and experiences, from luxury lodges to testing yourself in the wilderness on foot. The vast areas, the largest being almost 100 000 acres in four magnificent concessions, are all within a comfortable drive of Kimberley Airport.
