If nyala and bushbuck are your priorities then Umkomaas is your destination. The hunting area spans just over 8000 acres and is home to a wide diversity of species, including kudu, buffalo, hippo, impala, black wildebeest, zebra, blesbok, warthog, bushpig, caracal, waterbuck, common reedbuck and more. The rustic but comfortable camp offers views across a wooded valley where herds of antelope are a common sighting. The landscape varies from open rolling grasslands to thickly vegetated valleys and gorges. There is a small river system which runs through the area. The best way to hunt this area is to spend time “still hunting”, glassing across valleys in the hope of spotting the elusive nyala (which means the shifty one in Zulu).

The camp comprises 4 elevated thatched bungalows with bathrooms attached, a central thatched dining area, wooden deck overlooking the valley and a cosy campfire. The camp has grid electricity, refrigeration and all necessary amenities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Meals are prepared by our inhouse chef Ketiwe who has been spoiling our guests for many years.
